We live in a very digital world now. Just about everything we see and do in our everyday lives involves technology. There are quite a few people that make statements about the younger generations not being as intelligent as older generations because all they do is play video games, sit on the computer, text. Did they ever think about how all this technology is helpful though? Not all this technology is hindering to society.
All the digital technology we have today will seem ancient to us in just about ten years when more advanced items come out. What all this technology has helped with though, is reading and writing. If we hand a child a book, more than others are going to put it down and say they dislike reading; hand them a book on an iPad or tablet, and they are more likely to explore. With more reading comes more writing. Digital writing is a quick and sufficient way of getting information out; especially to large numbers of people.
With all the digitized books, magazines, newspapers, etc., there is so much inspiration in the palm of our hands to write. Technology has bettered writing for everyone; it has made it easier to read others works, get news, get inspiration to create our own works. Digital writing has had the most impact on creative writing.
Technology has allowed us to create numerous characters that we otherwise may not have come up with without seeing computers, phones, and tablets continue to advance become newer, sharper, and faster. A lot of stories that we see online, and even in books and magazines, have come from the writer’s personal experience through online chats or others’ stories they have seen and can relate to.
Some sites that people use such as Pinterest and tumblr, are telling stories whether people really know it or not. Looking at Pinterest it is as though it is creating our story for us based of the items, ideas, trips, houses, vacations, that we pin. We are creating digital stories without even trying to. Digital writing has opened up a whole new world for us that has been very beneficial and is here to stay.
